This mural is one of a set of murals commissioned by the Maryland Historical society to adorn the front of their education building. The society gave a guided tour through their extensive collection to all of the artists involved in the project. I was taken by their collection of Civil War artifacts as well as an original manuscript of the Star-Spangled Banner. Those elements (along with a Benjamin Bannekar star chart and 19th century bicycle) were combined to create the image. The mural was painted from my design as a class project with several 8th grade students of the T.W.I.G.S. program at the Baltimore School for the Arts.
